Biography of William James Joyce

William was born on 27 May 1888 to William & Emma, & baptised on 17 June 1888, while living at 69 Lefevre Road, Limehouse.

In the 1891 census age 2, William's living with his parents William & Emma at 31 South Grove, East Ham, London, with sisters Emma (14), Martha (Thirza) (11), Eliza (9), & Caroline (7).

By 1901 age 12 he's living with his parents at 13 Florence Road, East Ham, London, with sisters Caroline (17) & Maud (8).

On 26 December 1909 William married Fanny Amelia Watson at St Bartholomew's Church. He was a baker, living with his family at 18 Bendish Road, East Ham. William's sister Caroline and their father William were witnesses.

In the 1911 census they were living at 20 Ranelagh Road, London with their first 4 month old daughter Lillian Maud Joyce, and William was working as a bakers carman (horse & cart driver).

At the time of his father's death (16 February 1933), William was living at 75 Evesham Road, West Ham (see William Joyce's death certificate). By 1939 the family had moved to 11 Northfield Gardens, Dagenham; William (53) is working as a warehouse packer, and their family now comprises Fanny (60), Lillian (29, dress machinist), William (24, tailor's shop assistant), Hilda (22, waitress) & Dorothy (17, milling packer).

William's wife died in 1964; William died in 1966 age 77, in East Ham.
