Log of a Cycle Tour to North Wales, by Roy Spurgeon, with Leslie Lee.   3 July   Appendix B

Our last day. Having decided that the majority of the party wished to travel home by the 9.20 train from Bath, we got up, despite my protests, at the unearthly hour (for a holiday ) of 0700 hours, in order to pack before breakfast. We had arranged to do our chores the previous evening, so we were able to leave immediately after breakfast at 0840 hours. We made the journey to Bath station, a short but pleasant ride by 0900 hours (2186.6) in plenty of tine for the train which, when it came in, was surprisingly empty, since it came from Weston-Super-Mare.

Once again, we secured a compartment to ourselves and the train, after stopping at Box, Chippenham, Swindon, Didcot, Reading and Slough, reached Paddington at 1320 hours, a journey of 4 hours.

Here, our journey's end, we separated, each taking his, or her, own way home. I arrived home at 1405 hours (2194.6) having covered a total cycling distance, from door to door, of 316.3 miles. This gives a total distance covered from Bath and back again to Bath, of almost exactly 300 miles.
