The same census page also show their son Robert (13) living with the (Daniel & Maria) Cooking family, nearby neighbours, maybe as a servant. Thomas Gedge was Ann's son, born Thomas William Gedge/Gage in 1825 before her marriage to William; his father was Thomas King (1794-1865).
The 1851 census shows William (45, farm labourer), Ann (45), Robert (22), John (19), James (15, tailor), Harriet (12), William (9) & Eliza (5), living in Church Street, Little Ellingham.
The 1861 census shows William Spurgeon (55, agricultural labourer), Ann (55), James (25, agricultural labourer), Harriet (22, dressmaker), William (19), Eliza (15), living in Church Street, Little Ellingham.
Two of William & Ann's sons, John & William, emigrated to the USA. John emigrated between 1856 & 1858, with his wife Anna Maria Tennant & son Charles William Spurgeon, and settled in Michigan. William (23), his wife Susan Ray (22) and their son George (1) sailed from Liverpool on the SS Glasgow, arriving in New York on 18 April 1864, and also settled in Michigan.
