Dive 42, Mew Stone, Wembury, England, 23/11/2005

Night dive with Brian, Fraser, 2 on course, & buddy Ian Trotter. Calm, slightly cloudy, air cold, we enter first. Difficult to judge descent rate - reach bottom rather quickly! Lots of starfish: blue/grey, red (bloody henries), large urchins, many crabs - some with pronounced claw patterns. Two friendly graceful dogfish (I attracted to my torch). Small conger shrimp with ultra-bright eyes! Red catfish-like...? Lots of different sponges. Fun exploring in darkness! Surface some distance from boat beneath wonderful canopy of stars, & Mars. Cold on boat - take fleece next time! Torch & strobe worked very well on 2.1A rechargeable NiMh.
