Robert married Elizabeth Welch in Downham Market. The 1841 census shows him working as a blacksmith. He died in 1846 in Downham.

In turn Robert and Elizabeth also had a son named Robert, born in 1815 in Downham Market. He married Rebecca Witt. The 1851 census shows them living in the registration district of Downham, with his son following his father's trade. Robert died in London.
