Biography of William Nichols

Born around 1815 in Little Bealings to father John Nichols & mother Elizabeth (maiden name unknown).

William married Lucy Boynes on 26 December 1842 at Woodbridge, Suffolk. They had 2 children, Frederick & Alice.

In the 1851 census he's an agricultural labourer, living in the parish of Great Bealings with his wife Lucy, son Frederick (6), widowed father John, & widowed father-in-law George Boynes (73, carpenter).

In the 1861 census he's still in Great Bealings, an agricultural labourer (horseman), living with his wife, daughter Alice (3), & his father John. When his son Frederick married in 1867, William's profession was recorded as Farm Baliff.

By 1871 he's the inn keeper at the Boot Inn, Great Bealings, living with his wife, daughter Alice (13), & a lodger. He continued living at the Boot Inn as recorded in the 1881 & 1891 census.

From the Ipswich Journal, March 1895: "Died on the 28 February 1895, William Nichols, many years landlord of the Boot Inn, Great Bealings, aged 78."
