Biography of Frederick William Nichols
Born towards the end of 1842 in Hasketon, Suffolk to parents William (an agricultural labourer) & Lucy. He was baptised at Great Bealings, Suffolk on 28 May 1848, age 6.
In the 1851 census he's 8, living in the parish of Great Bealings with his parents, & both widowed grandfathers, John Nichols (64, agricultural labourer) & George Boynes (73, carpenter). By 1861 age 19 he's a working at a foundry in Ipswich as a hammerman, lodging with the Simpson family at 13 Rope Lane, Ipswich.
Frederick married Jane Gregory on 2 June 1867 at St Luke, Finsbury, Islington, London. At the time he was a warehouseman, living at 140 Old Street, Finsbury. They had 4 children: Alice, Frederick, George, & Lilian.
In the 1871 census he's 28, a warehouse porter, living at 5 Milton Street, Finsbury, London with his wife Jane (24, shopkeeper) and their daughter Alice (2). Later the family move to Battersea, London, and then to 8 Murray Street, Hoxton, London, where he died on 10 January 1878, age 35, a couple of months after the birth of his daughter Lilian. He was buried on 17 January 1878.
