Biography of Mary Harding (Mary Clarke, nee Kimber)
Mary was born around 1824 in Stalbridge (near Henstridge), Dorset, and baptised on 25 December 1824. In the 1841 census age 15 she's a glover, living at Turge Lane, Henstridge, Devon with Sarah Mullett (70).
Mary married George Clarke on 20 August 1846. In the 1851 census age 24 she's still a glover, living at Henstridge with her husband George (41), son Charles (2) and a visitor (Elisa Dewfale, 16). Her husband died shortly after, in June 1852.
On 21 September 1858 Mary married Thomas Harding, also a widow (his previous wife Sarah Bastone died in 1852). Thomas & Mary had 4 children, but two (Herman & James) died when about 4 years old. In the 1861 census Thomas (41) & Mary (35) are living at Village Street, Henstridge, Devon, with sons Herman (2) and James (6 months).
By 1871 census Thomas (51) & Mary (43) have moved to Mount Pleasant, Faringdon, Lechlade, Gloucestershire, with their son Gilbert (8) and Martha (3).
Mary, now 48 & daughter Martha Ann Harding (13) are living alone together at 1 North Street, Lingfield, Surrey in the 1881 census.
No trace of Mary has yet been found after 1881.
