Biography of Gilbert Tom Harding
Baptised on 15 October 1862 at Henstridge, Somerset to parents Thomas & Mary Harding. In the 1871 census age 8, he's living at Faringdon, Lechlade, Gloustershire with his parents Thomas (51) & Mary (43), and sister Martha (3).
By 1881 he's 18, one of 3 ground labourers, lodging with the Randell family at 4 Church Terrace, Willesden, London.
Age 21, Gilbert married Ellen Louisa Pepper on 26 December 1883 while living with his sister Martha at 107 Pembroke Road, Kilburn, London.
In the 1891 census Gilbert (28), a fishmonger, is living at 50 Golbourne Road, Kensington, with wife Ellen (28), son Charles (6), and daughters Lily (4), Florence (2), & Nellie (1), and 2 servants. By 1901 they're at the same address, with Charles (16), Lily (13), Florence (12), & Thomas, and 3 servants (fishmongers & shop assistants).
Gilbert's wife Ellen died in 1902; four years later, on 8 October 1906, Gilbert married Florence Annie Nicholl while living at 12 Burlington Road, Chiswick, London. They had one son, George.
By 1911 they had moved to Charlton Musgrove, Wincanton, Somerset: he's 48, a farmer, Florence is 28, and they are living with Lily (23, shop assistant), Thomas (17, farmer), a new-born son George (1), and a servant.
Gilbert died age 72 on 11 June 1936. In his will he left his estate to his wife Florence, and Lily's husband Lewis Leopold Lorenz.
