Biography of Rebecca Carpenter (nee Winfield)
Born on 29 September 1832 at Reeves Mews, Marylebone, London to parents Joseph & Sarah Winfield, Rebecca was baptised on 9 December 1832.
In the 1841 census she's 8 years old, living at Richmond Street, Marylebone with her parents, sisters Margaret (10) & Frances (3 months), and brothers William (4) & Henry (2). By 1851 (part 1), (part 2) she's 18, a dressmaker, living at 6 Little Earl Street, Marylebone with her parents Joseph (a bus conductor) & Sarah, sisters Frances (10), Jane (8), & Harriet (3), and brothers William (14, a stable boy) & Henry (12). Later the same year on 23 November 1851 she married Thyne Carpenter, a painter: they lived at Praed Street, Paddington.
The 1861 census shows Rebecca, a dressmaker living with her husband Thyne (painter & glazier) living at 5 Hall Place, Paddington with their son Thyne (6), and daughters Rebecca (4), Mary (3) & Emma (1).
Rebecca died on 28 December 1865 following complications while pregnant with her 8th child. Her husband Thyne remarried later and his second wife Elizabeth looked after his family.
